About O'Lea

Some History

Liz  Forbes has always been inspired by design and overseas trends but grew tired of never being able to source the gorgeous items she would see in magazines locally, so opening her own shop only seemed a natural thing to do. From the beginning it has been all about following her passion, working hard and loving every minute along the way.

Liz brought O'Lea Home Collection to Lawrence in June 2004, the business started initially in Outram in 2003 and has grown from a part time hobby to a full time business for Liz and her sister Lisa Wilson. A Visit to O'Lea Home Collection is always a very pleasant surprise, mainly because it is has the style of a 'High Street Shop' but instead you will find the backdrop for O'Lea is the small country town of Lawrence. Liz and Lisa say there are so many benefits to having the shop in Lawrence, the town that has always been their family's home.

Lisa along with her Husband Paul and four children Adam, Holly, Eden & Paris live on a farm about ten minutes from Lawrence. Lisa enjoys the time she spends on the farm or in her garden,  where gumboots are the acquired footwear, but half of her week calls for a more stylish dress code. So it really is the best of both worlds that Lisa enjoys. Being one of her sister's best customers from the beginning and having the same good taste and eye for detail it was a obvious step for Lisa to become part owner, taking the small shop Liz had started on her own from a hobby to the O'Lea Home Collection  that is now well known for its exquisite style. Lisa finds that living the country lifestyle forms a nice balance between the busy days at O'Lea Home Collection.

Liz enjoys the semi rural life in the quaint historic gold rush town of Lawrence  with her four children Oliver, Autumn, Lily and Elliot
It was in the early days of living on farms that she found her challenge of turning dull-worn farm houses into inviting stylish homes. This turned into a skill that friends complimented her on and in turn would inspire them do the same with there own homes.
So it was this shameless love of all things luxurious that was the beginning of O'Lea. A  few wines with a friend who was representative for one of the first companies she would buy from and a plan was hatched.
It has truly been from these small beginnings that O'Lea has grown into what it is nowadays. Quite a few of Liz's customers from those early starting days have now become great friends. And the best part of having O'Lea in Lawrence is the friendly, more relaxed pace of life that suits her perfectly.
